On Saturday September 24th at the Ultimate RC Dirt Oval presented by the Allstar RC Dirt Series saw 7 different classes of cars take to the track for the first day of practice. Mother-nature dropped about a 1/2″ mid-morning rain, delaying any action for several hours. The rain turned away many of our drivers but those that did show were treated to cooler temperatures, good track conditions and a preview of how fast and exciting the racing will be in the coming weeks and 2017 Allstar RC Dirt Series competition. The street stocks didn’t disappoint with several of competitors looking cool in their Chevelles, Nova’s and Camaros hot-lapping. James Cates turned the fastest laps in the Street Stock class for the day of practice. Some of the best action of the day was put on by our SC Late Model class. At one point we had a 6 car battle on the track highlighting how tight the competition will be on the tight dirt oval. Wes Weigand turned some stout lap times in Dale Earnhardt Jr SC LM replica. The SC Modifieds saw action as well as Mike Kressley turned some quick times late in day with 9K machine. The sprint car class saw Troy Kettler & Jason Hutchins turning quick times, an encounter with the back straight wall ended Hutchins day early but his car looked quick in the limited laps.
Today was the first opening to the public, we fought weather for two days which dampened our turn out but not the action. We will continue to finish up some items around the track and our planned first race will be Saturday October 22nd. Check our Facebook if you haven’t. Our page had over 4000 hits last weeks and interest is high. Look for an announcement on another controlled practice session this week.
Thanks, Allstar RC Dirt Series
Work continued on the drivers stand this week. The handrails on the three sides are completed. The main front handrail will be constructed this week. At the completion of the front handrails the roof will the final item to complete the stand. The track was restaked Friday to identify the actual inside and outside track perimeter. More dirt will be brought in to extend the pad and get the banking correct. We have identified what will be used to construct the walls and what they will generally look like. The dirt will be moved this week and the track banking and outline should begin to take place. Once that’s complete we will begin the smoothing process. Its our intentions to have the stand complete within 2 weeks. We are getting closer and things are slowly getting in place to have a nice oval program and series. Keep checking back here for more updates through the end of June. The store will slowly begin to see items posted in the coming week. If your in need of parts, cars, bodies or etc email the Allstar RC Dirt Series for more information.
Today we completed the decking of the Drivers Stand. The nice weather gave me a HOT day to get some progress made. The facility is nice and wet after several inches of rain last night but the stand being positioned on the concrete slab allowed a full day of construction. I have handrails and the access ramps to do next and plan to construct those this week. The support braces holding the drivers stand from strong winds were removed today so the dirt can be brought in to begin building the track. By next weekend we should have dirt in place and the stand close to completion. Its supposed to rain next week but we will work around that as much as possible. I’m still hopeful to cars on the track in the next 3-4 weeks but we have to have some dry weather. We are close to signing two series sponsors in the coming week or two. We have four committed series sponsors and we continue to work for title sponsors for the 2017 championship series. Progress is being made and the rules are posted. Email us with question or comments through the contacts page. Thanks, ARCDS.
